When Alyson Shepherd’s father passed away in May 2020, she found herself searching for meaning amid her grief. Life had already begun to shift—COVID had reshaped priorities, and a once fulfilling corporate career no longer felt aligned with her heart. But an unexpected discovery in her garden changed everything.

A decades-old beehive, hidden within a tree in her backyard, was uncovered by tree loppers. Instead of destroying the hive, they carefully relocated it, giving Alyson a new sense of purpose. Watching the bees at work became a source of peace and healing, reminding her of the beauty of connection and resilience—values deeply rooted in her own family.

Inspired by the strength of her then 101-year-old grandmother, Norma May Wells, Alyson named her honey business in her honour. Today, Norma-May Honey is more than just a brand; it’s a tribute to nature, family, and the incredible wisdom of bees.

With thriving hives at Daisy Hill, Shailer Park & Rochedale; plus, in collaboration with The Urban Bee (collectively known as The Girls in Pink), over 50 other urban-specific honey hives in different apiary locations, Alyson is dedicated to producing pure, ethically harvested honey while embracing the mindfulness and harmony that beekeeping brings.

Every jar of Norma-May Honey is a labour of love—a reminder that even in the toughest times, we can find sweetness, purpose, and a new way forward.
